About this trip
Stella Island takes no children, and you can hear it: the place stays quiet even in high season. Half the rooms have a private pool or step straight into the shared one — two paces from the terrace to the water.
Heraklion is eighteen kilometres away, so the Palace of Knossos and the port are easy to reach, and to the east lies the best part of the island: Agios Nikolaos and the bay of Elounda.
The early booking price holds until the end of January; after that the same week costs about a quarter more.

What to see nearby
Knossos. The Minoan palace, twenty minutes from the hotel. Go before ten — after that the cruise-ship coaches arrive.
Elounda and Spinalonga. A bay on the east of the island and the fortress island reached by boat from the promenade.
Balos and Gramvousa. Crete’s best-known lagoon. The drive is long, so give it a whole day — it earns it.
The Lasithi plateau. Mountain villages, windmills and the Kera monastery: a route for a hire car.

Do I need a visa for Greece?
Yes, a Schengen visa is required. If yours has expired we list the documents and book your appointment at the visa centre.
Why adults only?
The hotel takes no guests under 16. Travelling with a child? We will find you a neighbouring hotel in the same group.
What does early booking give me?
A fixed price and the best choice of rooms. Payment is staged: 30% on booking, the rest three weeks before departure.
Do I need a car on the island?
Not strictly, but Crete opens up differently with one. Hire starts around 35 euro a day and we can book it.
